Provincial Health Organizations
Provincial Housestaff Organizations represent the Medical Residents of each respective province. PAIRS is the PHO for Saskatchewan. PAIRS is affiliated with the other PHO’s which are in turn represented by the national organization known as the Canadian Association of Internes and Residents (CAIR.) All PHO members are also CAIR members.

National Organization
Saskatchewan Medical Association
The Saskatchewan Medical Association is a voluntary professional association for physicians in Saskatchewan, where nearly 90 per cent of physicians are members. The SMA also represents the vast majority of medical students and residents training in Saskatchewan. Representing the collective view of the medical profession in Saskatchewan, and negotiating for and on behalf of fee-for-service, salaried and alternate payment physicians, the SMA is a provincial division of the Canadian Medical Association, which acts as the national voice of medicine in Canada.
Membership is conjoint, and all SMA members are entitled to the rights and benefits of membership in the Canadian Medical Association.
PAIRS pays annual SMA dues for its members, making Medical Residents in Saskatchewan members of the SMA. As such, PAIRS members are entitled certain services of the SMA while in their residency, including the Physician Health Program, optional PAIRS/SMA Life and Disability Insurance Plans, Bursaries and Grants, and….

Canadian Medical Association
PAIRS pays annual dues for its members to the Saskatchewan Medical Association, which in turn is affiliated with the Canadian Medical Association. As such, all PAIRS members are CMA members.
